Factory trike or conversion
Touring conversion
Harley-Davidson has only built its own trike since 2009. Before that, Touring models such as the Electra Glide and the Road King were fitted in America with a rear axle with two wheels. These are often the best-value trikes.
Tri Glide Ultra (from 2009)
The trike Harley-Davidson builds itself, based on the Electra Glide Ultra. Made for long tours, with a batwing fairing, radio and plenty of luggage space.
Freewheeler (from 2015)
A more stripped-down factory trike without a fairing, in cruiser style.
Registration and costs
Licence, registration and costs
Licence. In many EU countries, if you passed your car licence (B) before 19 January 2013, you may ride a trike without a motorcycle licence; if you passed it later, you need a motorcycle licence (A). Check the rules in your country.
Registration. A trike is registered as a three-wheeled motor vehicle, which is inspected differently from a regular motorcycle. We work with partners in the Netherlands who can take care of the inspection and Dutch registration.
Price and costs. Prices are in dollars and include shipping to the port of Rotterdam. After that come unloading the container, the customs declaration, import duty and VAT. See the cost of importing a Harley, or ask for an all-in calculation for a specific trike.
If the trike has a batwing fairing, you can easily swap the original radio for a radio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Questions about a trike from America
Do I need a motorcycle licence for a trike?
That depends on your country. In the Netherlands, a car licence (B) obtained before 19 January 2013 lets you ride a trike without a motorcycle licence; with a B licence obtained later you need an A licence.
What is the difference between a Tri Glide and a converted trike?
Harley-Davidson has built the Tri Glide itself since 2009. A conversion is a Touring Harley that was fitted with a two-wheel rear axle in America. A conversion is often better value; on a Tri Glide everything is matched at the factory.
How is a trike inspected?
A trike is not a regular motorcycle but a three-wheeled motor vehicle, so the inspection is different. We work with partners in the Netherlands who can take care of the inspection and Dutch registration. Ask us on WhatsApp.
What does the price include?
